Keep Your Car Clean!
I walk up Henfield high street and it is easy to pick out who are looking after their cars, even through these cold times even car cleaners are worth their weight in gold. I am not a fan of automatic car washes as in my opinion they miss so much dirt, but even this is better than nothing, but if you do use an automatic cleaner use the hot wax option and underclean, otherwise you are just throwing your money away.
In Henfield we have a valet cleaners who are very good, they do inside and out in a very professional way I also am very fussy about cleaning my car as you would not believe the germs you can find on the dashboard from sneezing coughing etc. So even inside I like to apply some mild disinfectant and some lemon cleaner to lift your spirits.
Professional car cleaners think it vital to flush out the underside of the wheel arches and even under the car, because even though cars have better corrosion resistance dirt still holds moisture and chips can still damge the surface metal. For example if your car is filthy how could you possible see if a stone has chipped your paintwork and be the start of a minor unsightly mark if not dealt with quickly.
A good wax is also a great protection in these cold and wet times, you can buy cleaners with wax already included and although this is OK as a temporary measure, you cannot beat a good waxing with a good thick polish, the thicker the better as a good polish will survive quite a few automatic washes. However it is best to do this in the summer or Autumn just before the bad weather comes in.
In my opinion the bodywork is just as important as the engine, so you can get by for now with washes containg wax additives, but when spring arrives – treat your car – The time is not wasted. If you do not want to do it yourself take it to our local valet garage in Henfield high street.
