Up and down the country we have been plunged into this cold snap – Henfield is no exception, in fact I have noticed that we are always between 1-2 degrees colder than Brighton, which is 10 miles away.
Everyone right now is focused on Christmas, which is understandable but don’t forget that some cleaners are falling ill because of the cold weather. If you are a Cleaner like myself and going in and out of peoples homes you need to make sure you wrap up and make sure at this time of year you wipe down handles, stairway handles and commonly used worktops with anti-bacterial cleaners. As this is the time of year that little ones have colds and this is the easiest form of germ transmission.
Germs can be brought in from outside unknowingly and can remain active for up to 48 hours in some cases so it is important we cleaners make sure our customers are as well protected as possible. You need perhaps to be more alert when young children are in the home and as tedious as it sounds if they sneeze in an area you should where possible focus quickly on this area in terms of cleaning.
I am still amazed how many people stand outside the pubs of Henfield and smoke even in these freezing conditions and strangely enough these are not the people who you see sneezing, they seem to have built up a tolerance to the cold.
As a cleaner I do sometimes get a little disheartened at how many people leave their cars to get absolutely filthy. I try to clean my car every week as I think it is important to turn up at a client with a clean car as this tells them I am serious about my job.
I have also learned that although cars do not rust as badly anymore dirt still retains moisture and can lead to long term damage on the paintwork so cleaning your car is still worthwhile. Now a car wash is OK but the valeting service at Henfield does produce a better job albeit slightly more expensive. These valeting cleaners take care to clean all the unseen areas and hose down wheel arches, a real source of dirt collection.
So cleaners are not just working inside homes but also outside. so wrap up warm.
